A very good guitar but some quality issues

First the guitar ergonomy is very well thought. Everything falls perfectly under your hands on every playing position. We can see that this has been through a long design process for that.
The materials are very light and it is a blessing. It almost have a headless light feeling to it..

The asymmetric neck is good, but I don't really like to have a round shoulder on the upper side. The less is better to my taste. I have to mention that it came out with a very dry neck fingerboard so I had to hydrate it correctly.

The instrument is beautiful. The veneer is very cool. I like the headstock a lot.
The Gotoh 510 is very good, although the nut is not perfectly cut so I had to put some lubricants to help with tuning stability. The G string is still a bit off but nothing dramatic.

The only criticism I have concerns the fret leveling that is very poor for a WMI Korean instrument. I have several guitars made in those factories that are top notch on that point. Here I have 7-8 frets that are to high, and one of them was causing severe buzz issue (nearly same note on 2 different frets). I had to file it a bit and maybe it will end up on my luthier's hands for a full leveling process...At 2k price point it shouldn't happen and for that I think the guitar is a bit too expensive for the quality it delivers. I mean I have several chinese guitars at a fraction of the cost with perfect stainless frets leveling..

To finish on a good note, the gig bag is excellent !

I will probably make a video on my YT channel at some point.

Cheers !

Hi Jean Francois,

Thank you for taking the time to share the detailed review - we appreciate your thoughtful feedback. We’re glad to hear the ergonomics, lightweight feel, and overall design worked well for you. It’s great to know the design intent came through in your playing experience.

On the fingerboard - all of our guitars are cleaned before shipping, but we understand that some players prefer a more oiled, hydrated feel, which sounds like your preference here. Glad you were able to get it dialed in to your liking.

Regarding tuning stability, we do check this carefully, especially with floating bridges. Since the G string issue persisted after lubrication, we recommend double-checking the locking tuner and ensuring minimal string winds - these tuners work best with very few wraps, though sometimes additional winds are added at the factory.

On fretwork - all instruments are inspected and set up to our standard measurements before shipping. We guarantee our fretwork to setup from 4/64” on the wound strings to 3/64” on the high strings at the 17th fret. If your setup is particularly low, that could expose issues that wouldn’t be present at our factory spec. We’d be happy to help you confirm your setup and troubleshoot further to make sure everything’s performing properly.

We’re glad you’re enjoying the gig bag, and we’ll look forward to seeing your possible YouTube video!

Thanks again for choosing Abasi Concepts!

Elegant Design with Bright and Versatile Tonalities

The Emi is an artistic design which is very light weight and also adds the ability to play the instrument at a 45 degree angle. The pickups are very versatile, the signature pickups deliver the brightest tones out there, the coil splits are beautiful for cleans and twangy high gain tones too. I had to dial down presence knob on some of the amp models since it was so bright. This can be your all round instrument.
