ĒMI 6 // MASTER SERIES // BUTTERSCOTCH [Relic]

ēmi ™ is basically the sibling to the Larada. It retains the elegant and ergonomic form of the single cut variant, while offering a more aggressive shape for those who prefer double cut-away body styles. The design is highlighted by the asymmetrical, subtle teardrop-shaped OVIFORM + - ™ neck profile.

The ēmi line features a range of Fishman Fluence pickup configurations, including an S-S-S configuration on the brand new ēmi6, which is a first for Abasi Concepts. We even threw in a tone knob! While ABASI extended range instruments typically feature a multi-scale design with individual string bridges, the 'ēmi 6' and 'ēmi 7' are the answer for the players who prefer a uniform scale length and Gotoh 510 floating tremolo.

This particular ēmi Master Series instrument sports a light-weight okoume body, paired with a roasted, figured maple neck and ebony fingerboard. It also features a special relic treatment on an all satin finish. The nitro cellulose paint features checking lines, as well as some relic'ing to complement the age cracks. As always, each piece of wood is hand-selected, with great attention paid to quality, weight, and overall resonance of the instrument.

Relic Butterscotch Emi

I love the guitar but have a few gripes. The guitar is very light, comfortable to play, and stays in tune. It has fantastic resonance and sustain and was set up near perfect as far as intonation action. The neck shape is great, doesn't feel too thick or too thin. It can get a lot of great tones as well with the 5 way switch/pickup setup. The relic finish is subtle with some light checking and is a nice detail.

I only have couple issues with the guitar. The first is the color. It looks great in person and I don't dislike it, but it's not very accurate to the pictures online. It's definitely more of a desaturated yellow/orange and depending on the lighting it can look bit more vibrant. Compared to the images available, the instagram promo is way more saturated/orange looking and the detail page it's more yellow/saturated. The second issue is that the satin relic finish is much more glossy than I anticipated. It's got a bit of that sticky nitro feeling to it. Was expecting more of a smooth satin feel but find my right arm sticking to the body a bit and fret hand thumb not sliding as easily on the back of the neck. It's gotten a little better the more I play it and probably as the finish airs out/cures more. I am tempted to take some steel wool or fine grit sandpaper to the back of neck though :)

Overall, it's great looking and playing guitar. I'd give it a 4.5/5 if that was a review option.

Hi Quality Guitars That Play Amazingly

I have played many guitars during my extensive career as a touring sideman and now international recording artist, and I must say the Abasi Emi 6 is one of the most comfortable and fluid playing guitars I have ever played. I also like the progressive and modern design and features such as rechargeable battery pack! Also, I love the barrel tuners, genius! It's a winner for sure! Just waiting now for an Emi 6 with dual humbuckers like the Emi 7 and 8.

A Very Special Batch.

Like the title reads, I own an EMI 6 from the first batch, Korina Build, outstanding guitar, but this relic build is very special. The relic treatment is very subtle, but classic. I’m usually not a fan of finished necks but this neck feels effortlessly accessible. The EMI 6 is incredibly ergonomic, lightweight and balanced. Such an outstanding design. The SSS configuration covers a huge range of tones. The addition of the tone knob is essential, not many of my other guitars take advantage of this. I feel extremely fortunate to own these guitars.
